Type 3 Brow Bone Reduction and Brow Lift Before and After Photos

A type 3 brow bone reduction is where the bone of the forehead is cut, moved backwards, and secured into position. A type 1 brow bone reduction (not shown) is where only shaving of the brow bone is performed. A type 3 brow bone reduction allows for a greater degree of setback in comparison to a type 1 reduction. A feminizing rhinoplasty was not performed during this first operation. She is planning on undergoing orthognathic surgery (aka jaw surgery) to improve her occlusion (bite position) and better feminize her face. Orthognathic surgery that involves the upper jaw (e.g. Le Fort I osteotomy) can sometimes affect the appearance of the nose. Therefore, a decision was made to wait on the rhinoplasty until after she has undergone orthognathic surgery (jaw surgery).

It is important to undergo facial feminization surgery with someone who frequently performs these types of operations. There are many subtleties to the timing and order of operations. It is important to take note of these subtleties in order to achieve your best results. Many people prefer to have FFS performed in one operation. However, this is not always possible and staging may not be necessary for achieving an optimal result. It is important to discuss all the potential procedures you wish to undergo with your surgeon.
