These before and after photographs of a revision lip lift demonstrate some of the key priorities that one hopes to accomplish with a lip lift.

The incision for a lip lift should be designed in an area of the face that aligns with the natural borders. This allows the scar to hide in plain sight. By placing the incision in areas of natural borders, the scar blends into the natural contours of the face and is less noticeable.

The patient’s prior lip lift by another surgeon resulted in wide scarring underneath the nose. This can happen either from insufficient deep sutures or insufficient undermining of the surrounding skin. By removing the scar and closing the incision with minimal tension on the skin itself, a thinner scar should result.

Dr. Mittermiller’s approach to a lip lift is to create an upper lip that appears natural and feminine.
