Revision Brow Bone Reduction with a Type 1 to Type 3 Conversion – Before and After Photos

This patient underwent revision FFS with a revision brow bone reduction. This involved converting from a previously performed type 1 brow bone reduction to a type 3 brow bone reduction. This was done as part of facial feminization surgery.

These before and after photographs of revision facial feminization surgery (FFS) demonstrate the effects that can be obtained with a type 1 brow bone reduction conversion to a type 3 brow bone reduction.

This patient previously had a type 1 brow bone reduction (shaving only) and still had a small residual brow prominence. She was hoping for a smoother forehead with even less brow prominence.

These types of revision brow bone surgeries can often be more difficult due to the prior operation. The bone is thinner in potentially critical areas and the techniques for reduction need to be modified slightly. 

Although the results from this exact case are relatively subtle, a type 3 conversion can provide more dramatic results in patients who still have a prominent brow ridge after previously undergoing a type 1 forehead reduction.
