Facial Feminization Surgery (FFS) Before and After Photographs

These before and after photographs demonstrate the intraoperative results of a type 3 brow bone reduction, orbital rim contouring, brow lift, and rhinoplasty as part of facial feminization surgery (FFS).

Women generally have a less prominent brow bone. There are multiple techniques for brow bone reduction depending on the size of the brow ridge prominence and the size of the frontal sinuses. This patient had large frontal sinuses with a relatively small brow ridge. A type 3 brow bone reduction was performed due to the large size of the frontal sinuses.

The orbital rims are another primary component of forehead feminization. These FFS before after photos show the aggressive orbital rim reduction in orbital rim prominences as seen from the 3/4 views of the face. This is a difficult area to access for surgeons who do not routinely perform these types of operations.

The patient also underwent a rhinoplasty to produce a more delicate nose that matched the rest of her feminine face. The primary goals for the rhinoplasty were to reduce the small dorsal hump and to create a more refined nasal tip. These immediate before after photographs of her rhinoplasty show the dramatic change that was achieved while still retaining a natural, unoperated appearance.
