Women generally have a smaller, more petite nose than men. Performing a reduction rhinoplasty creates a dramatic impact on the appearance of the nose and subsequently the appearance of the face. Since the nose has a significant, central position on the face, it often plays a large role in the unconscious appearance of the beauty or femininity of one’s face.

This rhinoplasty was performed through an open approach, which means an incision is made on the columella of the nose (the central portion). The skin of the nose is then lifted to reveal the underlying cartilage and bone components of the nose. Manipulating these components is a key aspect of ultimately defining the shape of the nose.
